Upside Down House, Sliema / Malta

Award-winning transformation of a listed Maltese townhouse

The work to the listed townhouse in Sliema in Malta combines a contemporary rooftop extension with the sensitive refurbishment and repair of the external facades.

The potential of two new terraces on the unused roof led to the concept of upside down living, with kitchen, dining and living area all relocated to the open plan top floor.

The scheme was designed by Feldmann Architects; Model Architects were in charge of planning permission, technical design and construction through to completion.

Feldmann Architects won two of Malta’s Architecture and Spatial Planning Awards, awarded by an international jury under the Patronage of the President of Malta.
