Knighton House, Leicester
Award-winning transformation of a Victorian villa
The Victorian villa was built in 1879 and had been significantly altered and subdivided.
A key ambition was to retain its character and convert it back into a family home. The original features have been carefully restored, the staircase re-exposed and the original floor layouts re-instated.
Knighton House won two awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects with the project, for the careful refurbishment and thoughtful extension of the house.
It also featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs: House of the Year as a contemporary example of extending a period property.
